Coastal Crawl – Hermanus
Departing from Cape Town we head in an easterly direction along the coast. Our first stop is Gordons Bay, where, in summer, we have time for a refreshing dip in the ocean. After leaving Gordons Bay, we make our way on the coastal road passing the little villages of Rooi Els, Bettys bay and Kleinmond.
The holiday town of Hermanus is our next stop, and if it is in the months of July to November, we have an excellent chance of viewing the mighty Southern Right whales within Walker Bay.

Hermanus is famous for its “Whale crier “ who alerts the townsfolk and visitors of the presence of whales in the bay, by blowing on a dried sea weed horn. With many restaurants in the area, its an obvious stop for lunch.
With a delicious meal behind us we have chance to walk through the town, to enjoy the sights and do some shopping if you wish. Hermanus is fast growing a reputation for producing fine wines, and a tasting can be arranged as well. The route back to Cape Town takes us through the apple growing region of Elgin, past Steenbras dam and over Sir Lowry's Pass, where we stop at the viewpoint to enjoy the scenery over False Bay and the Cape Flats looking toward the Table Mountain range. We continue past Somerset West arriving back in Cape Town after five o'clock.
This tour also forms part of the Real South ( Agulhas ) tour, but is done in reverse order.
